Club Election is ♫a-comin’ down the tracks♪: getting closer to our election which is held at the first match in March, Mar 7. Way the by-laws read: Those who have been nominated can, but do not have to, make a speech at the first match in February, Feb 1. Just so you know. Voting is done by members 18+ years old. Anyone joining before the election will be able to vote.
We will have the drawings for the clean match shooters during the safety meeting—do NOT have to be present to win. There are a total of 6 awards so there could be 6 separate winners or Doc Jim Harvey could win them all (he has 11 clean matches for 2019.) List of clean shooters is attached.
RO I Class in was a great learning experience. TJD did he usual magnificent job of teaching the material in a fun and meaningful way. More than one of the students were awake at the same time.
Its less than 3 weeks now to LSTR 2019. I hope y’all are all planning to come have a great time playing cowboy while honoring our old-time movie icons that served in WWII. After all, since the match is on Dec. 7th, how could we do anything else?
How to squeeze even more Fun out of Cowboy Action Shooting! RO Classes are filling up fast. Don’t miss out on learning more than you ever wanted to know about what happens at the stages. The TRR Board and the President’s Posse (the movers and shakers of the club) unanimously recommend members at least attend the RO I course!
How to squeeze even more Fun out of Cowboy Action Shooting! Coming up during the months of December and January are SASS RO Classes presented by RO Instructor Texas Jack Daniels. “Back in the day” any RO II qualified cow-person could teach an RO I class but in the interest of presenting a uniform ‘product’ to the SASS membership the Powers that Be decided to come up with the RO Instructor Program. TRR is extremely fortunate to have one of these qualified “Black Badges” walk among us.
So you want to be a better, faster Cowboy Shooter? TRR will be hosting a shooter clinic on Nov 9, a club practice day. The lead instructor, Texas Jack Daniels, will cover target engagement, transitions, movement and mind set in a class that is designed for the beginning shooter as well as the Top Dawg—wanta-be’s. Best news about this all: it’s free to our members and friends!
And then there were Six! TRR has honored a number of its members over the years for going well past ‘above and beyond’ in helping the club. From building stage buildings, the pavilion and other structures to working behind the scenes to see that everything is ready for each and every match and maintaining paperwork (oh, the amount of paperwork that we generate) these cowfolk have always been “there” ready and willing to help.
It’s only 17 days till our Independence Day Celebration, this being our 243 birthday. So dig out your red, white and blue outfits, decorate you gun cart and plan to whoop it up at Saturday’s match. We’ll be looking forward to rivaling the party they had in the movie McLintock!
And speaking of Summer Dress . . . as our beloved weather forecasters have predicted 90 degrees for Saturday’s match we enter into the time of allowing modifications to the SASS Dress Code. The board decided last year the change-over point is when the temperature equals or exceeds 90 degrees.
