New Stage under discussion: the board is studying the feasibility of adding a new stage to the left of our current Stage 1: Nile City Depot. One train of thought is to move the plate racks et al. to this new stage and have new target arrays at the Depot. There is limited space at the new stage, and the Depot target area goes on for miles and miles.

Last Stand at Thunder River 2026 is in the books and was a tremendous success, thanks to the efforts of everyone who made it possible! Congratulations to our overall winners! Buckshot Sully, Wild Wendy, Slowaz Molasses, and Mar-Lynn took home the Overall Champion buckles. Nice shooting!

Happy New Year, Thunder River Renegades! Just a month ago, we had just 47 shooters registered for Last Stand at Thunder River 2026 and your Board was wondering where everyone was. Turns out they were just procrastinating! As of today, we have 98 shooters registered for LSTR, making it the biggest turnout for an annual match EVER at our club!

On 10/18/25, Ranger Bill and a number of TRR volunteers held a workday to make several necessary repairs to the range in advance of LSTR 2026. Your VP Ranger Bill did this on an accelerated schedule, knowing he was going to be unavailable due to a surgery from which he is currently convalescing.

We’ve been blessed with a number of new shooters over the last few months. We are glad to have them at Thunder River Renegades! New shooters are the lifeblood of any club. Do you remember when YOU were a new shooter? You might have felt nervous, like you had a million things to remember before, during, and after a stage.

We often talk about the “Spirit of the Game” and the “Cowboy Way”, and both these make Cowboy Action Shooting special, and so much more than just a sport. But the Spirit of Volunteering is what keeps clubs running, and I’ve always been impressed by the many selfless cowboys and cowgirls who keep Thunder River Renegades working smoothly by their volunteer efforts.
