Five shooters knocked the feathers off the steel chickens and turkeys while splitting the hides of the pigs and rams today. The warm day and nice breeze defined Texas in the early summer. Fairplay John led the way after recuperating from an attack from Julio’s revenge last week. I bet he won’t be calling the Michelin Guide to make a recommendation!
Nile City Slick called the match that started around 8:30. The last ceasefire was called at 11:30. In between bullets were flying and targets swinging and ringing. The chicken got really upset and almost left the range but was fixed by an intrepid group and leader.
We want to thank our TRR Cowboy friends for their patience while targets were being painted between changes. When it was all over, there were smiles all around.

I know the info has been published but can't seem to find it:
1. What are the step ranges for each critter in big bore lever & pistol caliber lever matches?
2. Did I read the critters are 1/2 size for pistol caliber?

It was published on the old site. I can't find where I saved a copy. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly and reprint it all. All I can recall right now is that our base ruleset comes from the NRA Silhouette rulebook under the section for Cowboy Lever Actions. I'll copy/paste that for you below.
One difference I know of off the bat is that we're using yards not meters.
1. Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette -
(a) Any lever action center fire rifle .25 caliber or larger
with a tubular magazine of original manufacturer or
replica thereof. A rimmed case loaded with a round
or flat nosed bullet must be used. Exception: .30
Remington and .35 Remington are allowed
(b) Targets: Long Range Pistol, at distances of 50 - 100 -
150 - 200 meters.
2. Pistol Cartridge Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette -
(a) Any lever action rifle with a tubular magazine. A
rimmed pistol cartridge loaded with a round or flat
nosed bullet must be used, i.e. 25-20, 32-20, 38’s, 357
Magnum, 38-40, 44’s, 44-40, 45 Colt, 45 Long Colt,
.22 Magnum and .22 long rifle.
(b) Targets: Hunter’s Pistol, at distances of 40-50-75-100
meters.
3. Smallbore Cowboy Rifle Silhouette -
(a) Any lever action, pump, or semi-auto rimfire rifle
with a tubular magazine. Only .22 long rifle ammuni
tion is allowed. Hyper velocity ammunition is prohibited.
(b) Targets: Smallbore Hunter’s Pistol, at distances of 40-50-75-100 meters.
I can't find the definitions for those target types, but I found this statement which answers your question above. (full size for rifle, half size for pistol and small bore)
Cowboy Lever Action competition are fired on full size targets. Pistol Cartridge and Smallbore Cowboy
are fired on one-half size Hunter’s Pistol (Pistol Cartridge) and Smallbore
Hunter’s Pistol (Smallbore Cowboy) targets.
Gambler is correct, except that we have two "smallbore" classes.
- 22 LR shot at half-size silhouettes at 40, 50, 75 and 100 yards
- Pistol caliber silhouette at the same distances. These are centerfire pistol calibers from 25-20 up through 45 Colt. Basically any centerfire caliber that the Winchester 1866, 1873, Model 92, Marlin 93, Marlin 94 or Colt Lightning and similar rifles was or is chambered for.
Then there is the Cowboy Silhouette match, which is any true rifle caliber from 30-30 up chambered for a lever gun (we also allow single shot). This is shot offhand at full size silhouettes at distances of 50, 100, 150 and 200 yards. In this case, single shots are typically (though they dont' have to be) sporter weight rifles rather than the heavy (12 lb) rifles shot at the 500 meter (yard) silhouette and gong matches.
