The One True Powder on the New Forum

So, we've got this nice new forum, and need to get discussion started - particularly among the shooters of the One True Powder.

I notice that we are gradually getting more folks to try and shoot black powder.  And they're finding out all the myths about it being corrosive, hard to clean, etc., etc. are just not true.  Interestingly enough, I'm seeing people that are being drawn into the new long range matches to be more open to BP.  Those old cartridges used in the big bore single shots just seem to like BP better.  And there's just something inexplicably RIGHT about touching off a Sharps, Rolling Block, High Wall, Trapdoor, etc. with a big case load of black powder and hearing the thunder roll down the range - along with the smoke and all the spotters saying "I can't see anything! Did you see where it hit?"  And then the response "Yep, there's another bullseye, dang it! - right beside the last one."

Kidding aside, What trips your trigger or intrigues you about BP?  Cap'n ball? Brass shotgun cartridges? Bringing an old Damascus barreled shotgun back to life (my old ones are tighter today than the new crap you buy)? Bringing old cartridges back to life?  Big bore rifles?

Sound off here and let's talk about it.  If you're interested, but have been scared to try because you don't know quite how - let's talk about it.  It's really not difficult once you get a few pointers.  And as the old saying goes - "Once you go black, you never go back!"

I found that the most fun playing the game we play, is shooting Gunfighter and blackpowder.  ( I know I shoot APP) Not the realstuff. But still get to make lots of smoke and choke out all of the spotters.  Will soon switch to the real stuff, need to use some of my stock first.

Well, I have to admit that those still and humid mornings are rather enjoyable with all the histrionics from folks shooting wimpy loads with that new fad smokeyless stuff.

And it's organic - charcoal, sulfur and bat crap........good for the environment!
